Hello! I have a question that I cannot solve for myself)) and I really need your advice, because you know better than anyone. I now buy in the kayaker.ru store Jakson karma, but I wanted Zen-S earlier … which you don’t have yet …. and I really want to ride Jakson. This season I plan to study and ride in Georgia and Altai. Also, now there is an opportunity to buy Zen-S used. What do you recommend for a newbie? Your advice is very important to me, what to choose karma or Zen?
Hey Leysan! Are you Russian or talking about Georgia USA? What I need is your weight – in lbs if possible (but I can convert), your favorite style of paddling (river / creek / class 2 or 5?) so I can suggest which boat is best for you in particular.
Our Zen is a very stable, surfy boat for river running and as long as you aren’t on the upper end it creeks very well too. The Karma is a taller, rounder feeling creek boat – better for ”getting down that harder river” but not quite as sporty and surfy on easier whitewater.
I would highly recommend the Zen S for paddlers 90 lbs up to 130 lbs, or the Zen Md from 120 up to 160 lbs on all types of whitewater. The Karma series goes higher, up to 145 small and 140- 185 Medium. I prefer the Zen for newer paddlers as it’s just a lighter and easier boat to paddle in most places. Hope this helps! Clay
